Arlington, Va. – The American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) applauds the U.S. Senate for their action to prevent an impending rail service stoppage that would have created a devastating effect for the U.S. food industry. The association appreciates the leadership and rapid work from Congress and the Biden administration to ensure that rail service is maintained.
“America’s frozen food processors and ingredient suppliers thank Congress for answering the call to stop any potential rail service shutdown,” said AFFI President and CEO Alison Bodor. “We look forward to President Biden signing this critical legislation.”
The legislation passed by Congress effectively ratifies a labor union deal based on a tentative agreement first reached in September. Earlier this week, AFFI commended the U.S. House of Representatives and Biden administration for their efforts to avoid the potential crisis of a rail shutdown.
