Arlington, Va. – The American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) today announced the addition of Garreth Hubbard as Senior Director of Government Affairs, effective August 3. Hubbard joins AFFI with extensive experience in food and agriculture policy and federal advocacy. His addition strengthens AFFI’s advocacy bench and enhances the association’s ability to advance the policy priorities of the frozen food industry.
In his new role, Hubbard will lead AFFI’s engagement with policymakers and key stakeholders, promoting policies that support the growth of the frozen food industry and expand consumer access to affordable, high-quality frozen foods.
“Garreth brings an impressive combination of policy expertise, strategic advocacy experience, and strong relationships across the food and agriculture landscape,” said Lisa Van Doren, AFFI’s Chief of Government Affairs. “His deep understanding of federal policymaking will strengthen AFFI’s advocacy efforts and help ensure our members’ voices are heard on the issues that matter most to frozen food makers.”
Hubbard joins AFFI from Land O’Lakes, Inc., where he served as Senior Manager of Federal Government and Industry Relations. During more than a decade with the farmer-owned cooperative, he worked at the intersection of agriculture, business strategy, and public policy, engaging policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, and coalition partners on priority issues.
Hubbard earned a master’s degree in agricultural economics from Alcorn State University and a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Florida A&M University.
“I am excited to join AFFI at this critical moment in food and nutrition policy, and advocate on behalf of an industry that provides safe and accessible food solutions,” said Hubbard. “Frozen food manufacturers are innovating to meet the needs of consumers while supporting jobs and economic growth. I look forward to working with AFFI’s members and partners to advance policies that strengthen the industry.”
The hire reflects AFFI’s continued investment in building a best-in-class advocacy program that effectively supports industry priorities and elevates the impact of frozen food makers in Washington. His expertise will help strengthen the industry’s voice in policy discussions and highlight the benefits frozen foods provide to consumers.
