Arlington, Va. – American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) President and CEO Alison Bodor offered the following statement on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed rule to revise 2020 Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) renewable volume obligations (RVO) and set RVOs for 2021 and 2022.
“The U.S. frozen food industry, as part of the food supply chain, is facing unprecedented supply chain hurdles and inflationary pressures across the board. EPA’s regulatory proposal will further strain the fragile food supply chain and make it more difficult for Americans to afford and find basic products on grocery store shelves and in restaurants.
“AFFI is disappointed that the Biden Administration missed this opportunity to provide immediate relief and ease the impacts of growing food inflation and supply chain concerns for food manufacturers and American consumers. If left unchanged, EPA’s proposed rule will deepen the regulation-induced competition between food makers and the biofuel industry for access to soybean oil.
“AFFI urges the Biden Administration to use its executive authority to provide relief and resolve the supply chain disruptions facing many frozen food makers and consumers.”
