Arlington, VA – The American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) issued the following statement regarding the House of Representatives passage of the Farm Bill:
The American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) urges the Senate to continue the bipartisan momentum and swiftly pass the Farm Bill.
AFFI applauds the House of Representatives and Agriculture Committee Chairman G.T. Thompson for passing the Farm Bill containing the Supporting all Healthy Options when Purchasing Produce (SHOPP) Act. This measure had bipartisan support because it is a no cost, common sense approach to increasing access to affordable frozen fruits and vegetables for American consumers through federal nutrition incentive programs.
As the Senate considers its version of the legislation, AFFI looks forward to working with lawmakers to ensure these important bipartisan provisions are maintained and enacted into law.
