Alternative approaches to the risk management of Lm
As part of the American Frozen Food Institute’s (AFFI) strategy to tackle risks associated with the
prevalence of Listeria monocytogenes (Lm) in the frozen food manufacturing, a panel of global experts was assembled to examine available Listeria science and consider regulatory policies to assure improved public health objectives. Last month, the panel’s work was published in the peer-reviewed journal, Food Control, highlighting a practical and science-based regulatory framework that will allow food processors to operate in a proactive and transparent manner and contends with the true public health risks associated with the presence of Lm in foods. In this webinar, Dr. Jeff Farber, the expert group’s facilitator will share key recommendations provided in the manuscript and discuss potential
implications to the frozen food industry. After Dr. Farber’s presentation, he will be joined by a panel of regulatory and scientific experts in a Q&A session to help address potential industry application and implementation of the proposed concepts including new sampling and testing strategies, the introduction of facility and industry performance standards, and benefits and limitations.
