Since 2019, the American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) and FMI – The Food Industry Association have partnered with 210 Analytics and Circana (formerly IRI and NPD) to provide the frozen food and retail industries with actionable insights to help grow the category. New this year, AFFI and FMI will bring together category leaders to drive collaboration – and profits – powered by immersive data from the latest Power of Frozen in Retail research.
How to Win in Frozen
Leveraging the results of the Power of Frozen as well as a combination of expert interviews and consumer surveys, in-store visits, and internal expertise, ‘How to Win in Frozen,” is an exclusive guidebook developed by AlixPartners for CPGs and retailers. It includes a comprehensive overview of the U.S. frozen food market as well as actionable insights, best practices, and growth forecasts across five of the major frozen subcategories. The “P” Word Conundrum: Overcoming the Perception of Frozen’s Processing
Last fall’s White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health created a pathway for expansion of Food as Medicine programs, which allow health insurers to cover the cost of food-based interventions. At the same time, frozen foods are called out in news articles and by lawmakers as examples of ultra-processed foods that should be avoided. Join us for this roundtable discussion as panelists exchange immediate and future opportunities for frozen’s role in building a sustainable, equitable and healthier food systems model.
Frozen’s Carbon Footprint
The frozen food industry plays a role in the overall carbon footprint of the planet – from agricultural production through freezing, packaging, frozen distribution, and storage, to our final consumption. Energy efficiencies, greenhouse gas emission reduction measures, and other carbon neutrality strategies give companies a way to improve their environmental footprint. Today, frozen food companies are at different stages in their decarbonization journey, driven by varying customer and regulatory requirements, growing consumer awareness about sustainability impact, and internally guided corporate needs.
The session features Emily Muth, Conagra’s Director Sustainability -Supply Chain. Muth will share how Evol®, a brand of Conagra Brands, Inc. (NYSE: CAG), has been able to achieve carbon neutral status of its frozen meals, including how brands measure the carbon footprint of the products over their full lifecycle, cradle-to-grave – from ingredient sourcing and packaging, to product manufacturing, distribution, and consumer use and end of life – and invest in projects that remove an equal amount of carbon from the atmosphere. Kai Robertson, AFFI’s sustainability advisor will also share recent developments across the frozen food industry. Attendees will leave with an understanding of actions being taken by companies in the frozen food and beverage supply chain to reduce the environmental impacts of their operations, value chains, and products.

Managing food safety with increasingly complex supply chains and in a more digital and traceable food system is imperative to any food industry operation. At the same time, food manufacturers and food product development teams are under increased pressure to get ahead of customer and consumer needs and also respond in real time to food safety inquiries.
