AFFI Sustainability in Frozen Foods Webinar Series

AFFI Sustainability in Frozen Foods Webinar Series

Join for a special three-part webinar series where AFFI will convene expert speakers for an in-depth discussion on sustainability in the frozen food industry. Throughout the special three-week series, members and partners will join to share practical guidance for tracking energy and GHG data, steps to reduce emissions, and needs and solutions for sustainable packaging in an evolving legislative and policy landscape.

Part 1: Decarbonizing 101: Defining, Gathering, and Calculating Energy and GHG Data

Wednesday, November 2, 2-3 p.m. (EDT)

Sustainability is a priority for the frozen food industry and a core strategic pillar of focus for AFFI. Given the industry’s reliance on energy, AFFI is bringing members together to better understand their carbon footprint and how to decarbonize by reducing the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated through energy use and other activities. Recognizing that companies are at different stages of their sustainability journey, this session will provide an overview of what decarbonization means for AFFI members and their customers, and share guidance for gathering energy and GHG data and setting reduction goals.

 Speakers:
Alison Bodor, president and CEO, AFFI
Kai Robertson, senior corporate sustainability advisor, KOR Consulting
Mike Troupos, vice president, Foresight Management

Part 2: Options for Reducing GHG Emissions and Cost

Wednesday, November 9,  2-3 p.m. (EST)

As AFFI members are now equipped with an understanding of the scopes of GHG emissions/energy use and the available resources for calculation, it is important to understand how to implement a GHG emissions reduction strategy. In this session, expert speakers in the fields of sustainability and energy management will walk through the goal-setting process and operational tactics available to the frozen food industry to help reduce GHG emissions. Learn more about the ways that frozen food makers can create energy efficiencies and also support the bottom line.

Speakers:
• Kai Roberston, KOR Consulting (moderator)
• Mike Troupos, Foresight Management
• Special speakers from AFFI’s sustainability working group to share where they are on this journey (invited)

Part 3: Sustainable Packaging Policy Implications and Solutions

Wednesday, November 16, 2-3 p.m. (EST)

Manufacturers face an array of state and federal bills and policies that address packaging recyclability, producer responsibility, and recyclability claims and labeling. What do AFFI members need to know to stay ahead of new legislation and requirements that may impact their products and their customers, and what are the solutions to meet these needs? This session will keep companies informed of the demands and regulations that will impact their business and the new technologies and trends in packaging to support your sustainability goals.

Speakers:
• Alison Bodor, AFFI
Dan Felton, executive director, AMERIPEN
Charles Golub, market manager for food and beverage, ProAmpac
